The Office Systems Specialist Program is a comprehensive course combining practical knowledge with hands-on use of computer software. The student will learn the major Microsoft programs. In addition, the skills learned in Microsoft Word will be utilized to design brochures, flyers, business cards and more.

Included in the cost of the course is a digital camera. We'll learn to use our camera indoors and outdoors through some field trips to such locations as the Columbus Zoo, Inniswoods Metro Park and Franklin Park Conservatory.

Our course objective is to provide cutting-edge technology blended with the skills required to compete in the job market after graduation.. All program experiences take place in our modern computer lab loaded with the latest software. Below is an overview of course subjects.

Word Expert: Hands-on exercises and assessments help students to create mail merge letters, memos, tables, forms, and templates. Students will also earn to track changes in documents, insert clipart and photos, sort information in tables, customize bullets and utilize tabs to create forms. Access Essentials: Tables, forms, reports, queries, integration with Word and Excel.
PowerPoint Expert: Creating and delivering presentations, inserting clip art and applying transitions, animation and sound.
Basic English: Parts of speech, word choice, and writing sentences and paragraphs.

Business Math using Excel: Introduction to numbers and calculators fundamental operations, fractions and percentages,
Advanced Word/Desktop Publishing: Interactive forms, business cards, letterheads, brochures, newsletters, flyers, utilization of color, and typefaces.
Digital Photography: Composing, downloading, and printing photos.

Books and a quality digital camera are included in the course cost listed and will be provided by the instructor. Financial aid may be available to those who qualify.
