The Adult Basic and Literacy Education (ABLE) program offers free day and evening classes for adult learners at many different locations throughout the city.

Services include:

• GED preparation classes

• Basic Skills improvement classes

• English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes

• The Official GED Practice Test

• Grammar and mathematics refresher

How Do I Enroll in Classes?

Students wishing to enroll in Basic Skills or GED classes must call 614-365-5245 extension 237 to arrange to attend an orientation program at Adult and Community Education @ Hudson, 2323 Lexington Avenue in Columbus.

Students wishing to enroll in ESOL classes must call 614-365-6468 extension 236 to schedule an orientation. Classes take place in several locations around Columbus.

Persons scoring at a passing level on the GED Practice test may qualify for a fee waiver to take the official GED test. Please call 365-5245 extension 237 for test schedule or information.

Ohio recognizes the GED examination as being the equivalent of a high school diploma. The Official GED test is administered at the Linden McKinley Annex. All GED testing is done by appointment only. Please call 614-365-5200 for further information or to make an appointment.
