It's less than a year to a new career!!

This program is approved by the Ohio Department of Commerce which regulates boiler operator and steam plant operation curriculum and other related courses. The program is designed to prepare students for the High Pressure Boiler Operator or Stationary Engineer license exam.

It is beneficial for students with previous “hands-on” operating experience, prior to taking the required licensing examination. The program may also be helpful to students seeking an opportunity to gain boiler room/power plant positions if the employer utilizes coursework as criteria in selecting personnel to fill vacancies in the plant. Building engineers benefit from the combustion, heat exchange, safety device, and math formula discussions.

Students will benefit from the experience of our instructor, Jon Harris, superintendent of the McCracken Power Plant at The Ohio State University. Mr. Harris’s expertise in the industry will prove invaluable when preparing to take the High Pressure Boiler Operator or Stationary Engineering examinations.

The U.S. Department of Labor reports that the median hourly range for stationary engineers and boiler operators in Columbus, Ohio is $18.09$22.62 per hour. Statewide, Stationary Engineers make approximately $43,000 annually.
